Seattle wide receiver Doug Baldwin rallied support on Twitter Saturday in preparation for a “demonstration of unity” prior to the Seahawks' season opener Sunday against Miami.
“We are a team comprised of individuals with diverse backgrounds,” the video says. “As a team, we have chosen to stand and interlock arms in unity.”
The video, narrated by Baldwin, had close to 700 retweets and over 1,000 likes, as of 12:47 p.m.
Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll shared the video Saturday morning after Baldwin tweeted it out.
“So proud of our guys,” Carroll said. “Hope you’ll stand with us and help build that bridge.”
Baldwin first tweeted about the planned demonstration of unity on Thursday, saying that the team would "honor the country and flag."
When approached in the locker room by reporters, Baldwin declined to elaborate further saying, "You'll see on Sunday."
