Santana goes 5 1/3 in Triple-A start

Veteran pitcher Ervin Santana, working in Triple-A  in preparation for joining the Atlanta Braves' rotation after signing as a free agent late in spring training, pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing five earned runs, for the Gwinnett Braves Friday night in Durham, N.C.

Santana gave up eight hits, walked four and struck out three and got the win. The G-Braves beat the Bulls 12-7.

Santana pitched for the Royals last season, going 9-10 with a 3.24 ERA.
