Hello again. It’s almost college football season, and that means it’s time for the “Sack Schultz” contest, and that also means it’s time for Weekend Predictions, so let me start with an off-the-books wager (not to be confused with an off-the-books attorney hire, because Cobb County, it seems, has cornered the market on that).

Bobby Petrino vs. Todd Grantham: boom.

Now, back to football.

Weekend Predictions returns next week. The “Sack Schultz” contest returns now. This contest provides you with the opportunity to pick the outcomes of games better than me, only to fail miserably.

I’ve been told by marketing that the grand prize for the national winner this season is a custom tailgate smoker/grill, valued at $2,500. I’ve also been told that I’m not eligible. Again.

The grand prize for the local contestant is a 16GB iPad Mini. It turns out I’m not eligible for that either.

Weekly contest winners will receive a $50 gift card from Kroger, while national winners get a gift from “Fathead.”

I looked: There is no Petrino or Grantham “Fathead,” despite, well, the obvious.

You can register for the contest at ajc.com/go/sackschultz2014 beginning Aug. 24. The contest begins the first week of the college football regular season and runs through Nov. 29 (the final week before the conference championship games).

Good luck. And as always: Enjoy second place.
