Richard Minor’s pink tutu stood out among the 60,000 racers Monday at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race, but the outfit was for more than catching peoples’ eyes.

Minor, who moved to Buckhead from England almost 25 years ago, wore the tutu in support of The Pink Agenda. The Pink Agenda is a non-profit organization that hopes to raise money for cancer research and awareness for 30- and 40-year-olds who may not realize they’re at risk.

Minor explained he got involved with the charity because of a connection with Kiera Palmer. Palmer is a board member with the group and lost her mother to cancer a few years back.

Minor, whose 4-year-old son, Pierce, joined him for the last mile of the race, said this was the second consecutive year he’s worn the outfit. He’s run the AJC Peachtree Road Race around 10 times at this point.

Minor said there was one key difference with this race compared with his first in the tutu.

“This was very hot,” Minor said.

Minor said he fell back this year because he ran with a buddy for the majority of the 10K. Despite the hotter weather and slower pace, Minor said he was happy to come out to the event once again for a good cause.

“It was a lot of fun as always,” Minor said.
