An update on former Braves shortstop Andrelton Simmons, who now plays for the Angels.

The Braves traded acrobatic shortstop Andrelton Simmons to the Angels in the offseason. Atlanta received veteran shortstop Erick Aybar along with the Angels' top two prospects, lefty Sean Newcomb and righty Chris Ellis. Catcher Jose Briceno, the Braves' No. 25 prospect, also went to the Angels in the deal.

Simmons is hitting just .215 for the Angels. He hit .265 for the Braves in 2015. In this photo, his bat is splitting as he hits the ball.

He has made two errors in 28 games. He made eight last season for the Braves.

Aybar has replaced Simmons (above) at short for the Braves but he’s hitting just .177 with two RBIs this season.

Simmons has one home run in 28 games. That projects to be a six-homer season. He had four for the Braves last season.

Simmons is being paid $3,142,857; Aybar is being paid $8,750,000.

Simmons has five RBIs this season. That projects out to a 29-RBI season. He had 44 for the Braves last season.

Simmons makes a great catch on a pop-up beyond the infield.

Simmons has scored eight runs. That projects to 46 this season. He scored 60 for the Braves last season.

Simmons has hit .125 in the past seven days.

The Angels have a losing record, 13-15.
