2017 AJC Super 11: Top Georgia high school football players

The 33rd edition of the AJC’s top 11 high school football players in the state of Georgia.

Justin Fields. quarterback, Harrison. Fields guided Harrison to its first winning season since 2008 and first 10-win season since 2002.

Adam Anderson, linebacker. Rome. Anderson was the Class AAAAA defensive player of the year last season.

Brenton Cox, defensive end, Stockbridge. Cox finished last season with 18 sacks and another eight tackles for losses.

Matthew Hill, wide receiver, Brookwood. Hill finished last season with 1,986 all-purpose yards (849 receiving, 625 rushing and 512 on kick returns).

Kearis Jackson, wide receiver, Peach County. Jackson is rated as the No. 1 receiver in Georgia -- 25th nationally.

Trevor Lawrence, quarterback, Cartersville. Lawrence was named the AJC all-classification player of the year after leading Cartersville to its second consecutive state championship and 15-0 season.

Justin Mascoll, defensive end, South Gwinnett. Mascoll was a first-team all-state pick after recording 68 tackles, eight sacks, nine other tackles for losses and 14 quarterback pressures.

Kyler McMichael, running back, Greater Atlanta Christian. McMichael rushed for 1,493 yards and 16 touchdowns on 222 carries last season.

Dameon Pierce, running back, Bainbridge. Pierce is within reach of the top 10 in the state all-time for career rushing yards.

Otis Reese, safety, Lee County. Reese was a first-team all-state selection who averaged about seven tackles per game last year.

Jamaree Salyer, offensive lineman, Pace Academy. Salyer is the consensus No. 1 guard prospect in the country and the No. 7 player overall.
