Paul Finebaum didn’t mince words about UCF claiming the national championship title earlier this week.

After winning Monday’s Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl over Auburn 34-27, UCF athletic director Danny White said that the program decided to claim the title in honor of their 13-0 season. UCF was the only undefeated Division I-FBS college football team this season.

The program and University plan to celebrate by giving coaches championship bonuses, placing a national championship banner inside Spectrum Stadium and hold a parade honoring the team.

In short, Finebaum disapproves.

“I know it’s fun for the national media to adopt a pet… Sometimes it’s for all the right reasons, but this is getting to be a little be ridiculous,” Finebaum said. “UCF… deserves credit… but to demean the College Football Championship that’s going on in Atlanta, the two teams that earned it, that deserve it, is quite frankly, laughable.”
