New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman has been handed a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's performance enhancing substances policy, ESPN's Adam Schefter and Field Yates reported Thursday.

The suspension is currently under appeal, Schefter and Yates reported.

Edelman missed the entire 2017 season when he tore his ACL in his right knee in August during the Patriots preseason game against the Detroit Lions.
