Teammates have told Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton that comparing the team to the Titanic isn’t a good look.

After Sunday's 20-17 win over the Atlanta Falcons, Newton told media the team was facing some challenges, but they had to keep sailing— just like the Titanic.

“Yeah, we just lost a great player (in former receiver Kevlin Benjamin), but nevertheless, the Titanic still has to go,” Newton said.

Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis said that teammates ragged on Newton for his mistake.

“We gave him a hard time about that,” Davis said, according on PFT Live. “We’re not trying to be that ship that sinks.”

The Panthers host the Miami Dolphins on Monday at 8:30 p.m.
