Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics venues

The Coastal Cluster of venues that consist Scohi’s Olympic Park includes the Bolshoy Ice Dome and the Shayba Arena, which will both host ice hockey, the Ice Cube Curling Centre, the Adler Arena speed skating venue and the Fisht Olympic Stadium, which will stage the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. The 2014 Winter Olympic Games begin Feb. 6.

The 2014 Winter Olympic Games begin Feb. 6.

The Adler arena speedskating venue seats 8,000. The speed skating oval is meant to look like an iceberg or ice fault. After the Olympics, it will be turned into an exhibition center.

The Bolshoy Ice Dome is the main ice hockey venue. It will showcase stunning illuminations at night. The "Bolshoy" complex will have a capacity of 12,000 seats and will be covered by a dome. The design of the "Bolshoy" is based on the image of a frozen drop and will be principally silver once complete.

The Rosa Khutor downhill course will also host mogul competitions, and parallel giant slalom.

The Sanki Sliding Center will host the bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton events.

The Rosa Khutor Extreme Park contains specialized tracks for cross-country skiing, aerial competitions, mogul competitions, boardercross, parallel giant slalom and half-pipe events.

The RusSki Gorki Jumping Center hosts a large (410 feet) and a normal (312 feet) hill.

The Laura biathlon stadium will host the biathlon and the cross-country skiing portion of the Nordic combined events. The sky center gets its name from the Laura mountain river, which has a large number of waterfalls. The name of the river is based on a legend of a young girl called Laura who chose death over living with an old prince she did not love.
