Notre Dame graduate transfer Jay Hayes announced on Twitter Wednesday he will transfer to the University of Georgia.

Less than two weeks prior to Wednesday’s announcement, the former Notre Dame defensive tackle said he would transfer to Oklahoma.

“This is it,” Hayes wrote on Twitter. “In a month I’ll be heading down to Athens to play for the Georgia Bulldogs. Go DAWGS!”

Hayes, who recorded seven total tackles against Georgia in September, will be eligible for the 2018 season. He recorded 27 tackles, one sack and one fumble recovery in 13 starts with the Fighting Irish last season.
