NFL suicides

Some former NFL players who have committed suicide.

Junior Seau (Jan. 19, 1969-May 2, 2012): Linebacker, played 20 seasons, mostly with Chargers. Shot himself in the chest.

Ray Easterling (Sept. 3, 1949-April 19, 2012): Defensive back, played 8 seasons with Falcons. Shot himself.

Mike Current (Sept. 17, 1945-Jan. 16, 2012): Offensive lineman, No. 71, in photo. Played 12 seasons, beginning in 1967. Shot himself in the head.

Dave Duerson (Nov. 28, 1960-Feb. 17, 2011): Played in NFL from 1983-93, mostly for Bears. Shot himself in chest. Had left message that he wanted his brain to be studied.

Kenny McKinley (Jan. 31, 1987-Sept. 20, 2010): Former South Cobb High star played one season with the Broncos. Was put on IR for second season. Shot himself.

Shane Dronett (Jan. 12, 1971-Jan. 21, 2009): Defensive lineman played 10 seasons, mostly with Falcons. Shot himself after pointing gun at his wife.

Andre Waters (March 10, 1962-Nov. 20, 2006): No. 20 in photo. Defensive back, played 11 seasons mostly with Eagles. Shot himself in the head.

Terry Long (July 21, 1959-June 7, 2005): Played eight seasons for Steelers. Committed suicide by drinking antifreeze.

Steve Stonebreaker (Oct. 28, 1938-March 28, 1995): Top, No. 37. Played six seasons, last with Saints in 1968. Poisoned himself with carbon monoxide via car exhaust.
