East Cobb’s Melanie Oudin has been selected to represent the United States in the Federation Cup world final in Italy. The United States will play Italy in Reggio Calabria, Italy, on Nov. 7-8.

Oudin, ranked No. 47 in the world after her run to the U.S. Open quarterfinals, will be playing in her third Fed Cup event. Her teammates will be Serena Williams, Liezel Huber and Alexa Glatch.

“I think everybody wants to play for their country,” said Oudin’s coach, Brian de Villiers. “She’s excited.”

Oudin has played in two tournaments since the U.S. Open, falling in qualifiers in events in Tokyo and Beijing.
