When he spoke with LeBron James, president of basketball operations for the Los Angeles Lakers Magic Johnson said that James knew the team almost as well as he did.

According to ESPN, Johnson arrived at his meeting with James an hour early and waited in his car before the meeting at James' California home. Johnson also added that his pitch to James was not about the "legacy of the Lakers."

“He broke the roster down right in front of me,” Johnson told Spectrum Sportsnet. “’Kuz like to do this. So-and-so like’... and I said ‘Wow, he knows the entire roster.”

James signed with the Lakers Tuesday, according to Klutch Sports Group Instagram account.
