Kennesaw State has hired Vaughn Williams as the university’s athletic director.

Williams currently is the associate athletic director for facilities, management and planning at Connecticut. A former football player at Massachusetts, Williams also has worked in the athletic departments at Boston College and Utah.

“I am extremely pleased that Vaughn Williams is bringing his leadership to the athletic director’s position at KSU, as we set our sights on becoming increasingly competitive in the top-tier of collegiate sports,” school president Daniel S. Papp said Tuesday in a statement.

One of Williams’ first tasks will be to hire a men’s basketball coach to replace Tony Ingle, who was fired last month.
