Georgia Tech quarterback Justin Thomas left the Yellow Jackets’ 31-25 loss to Duke Saturday with an injured ankle, but the injury did not appear to concern coach Paul Johnson much on Monday.

“He’s OK, I think,” Johnson said after the team’s practice.

Johnson said of safety Jamal Golden, who also left game with an undisclosed injury, “He should be back (Tuesday).”

The Yellow Jackets could use both in their game Saturday against North Carolina. Thomas leads the team in rushing at 98.2 yards per game. Johnson said he suffered the injury in the first half of Saturday’s game and tried to play through it before being replaced by Tim Byerly in the fourth quarter. Golden has started each game at safety this season and has returned his past four kickoffs an average of 46.5 yards. Golden’s injury was suffered in the second half.

They weren’t the only Tech starters out Monday, as the Jackets corrected errors from its loss to Duke and began preparation for the Tar Heels. Left tackle Bryan Chamberlain, A-back Synjyn Days, safety Isaiah Johnson and defensive end Kyle Travis also were in red jerseys Monday, meaning they were held out of practice due to injury. Chamberlain, who did not play against Duke because of an ankle injury, is considered day to day.
