Jeremy Morin, a Thrashers second-round draft pick (45th overall) this year, was named to the United States’ roster for the upcoming World Junior Hockey championships Wednesday.

Morin has 44 points (21 goals, 23 assists) playing for Kitchener of the Ontario Hockey League. He was a member of the U.S. gold medal winning team at the 2009 Under-18 World Championships.

“Jeremy is very deserving,” Thrashers general manager Don Waddell said. “He is having a strong season at Kitchener.”

The World Championships will take place Saturday-Jan.5 in Saskatchewan. The U.S. opens play Saturday against Slovakia.
