Thrashers coach Craig Ramsay has yet to interview for his position with the Winnipeg franchise but a meeting with general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff could come this weekend. Ramsay was contacted by Cheveldayoff Sunday and told he would be a candidate for the position when the team relocates to Manitoba for next season.

Cheveldayoff is conducted a coaching search that is reported to also include Chicago assistant Mike Haviland, AHL Manitoba coach Claude Noel and former Edmonton coach and TSN analyst Craig MacTavish.

Ramsay has one year remaining on the contract he signed to coach the Thrashers before last season. The positions of those on Ramsay’s staff – associate coach John Torchetti, assistant Mike Stothers, video coach Tony Borgford and goaltending consultant Clint Malarchuk – are also undetermined.

Since Sunday, three of the four open head coaching jobs in the NHL have been filled with the hirings of Mike Yeo in Minnesota, Paul MacLean in Ottawa and Glen Gulutzan in Dallas. New Jersey is still searching for a coach.

The Thrashers sale and relocation becomes official with the approval of the NHL’s Board of Governors meeting Tuesday in New York City.
