Kovalchuk keeps captain title
You can still call him Captain Kovy.
Ilya Kovalchuk was named captain of the Thrashers for the 2009-10 season at Thursday’s Face Off event for season ticket holders at Philips Arena.
The alternate captains are: Colby Armstrong, Zach Bogosian, Ron Hainsey and Slava Kozlov.
Kovalchuk started last season as one of five alternate captains – along with Kozlov, Armstrong, Mathieu Schneider and Niclas Havelid. Schneider and Havelid are no longer with the team.
Kovalchuk was given the captain’s title on Jan. 11.
