Tucker football: Tigers earning No. 1 stripes

The AJC takes a photo-insider look at the top-ranked AAAA Tucker Tigers 2008 football team during practice.

After ending the '07 season with a crushing semifinals loss to Northside-Warner Robins, Tucker seeks to prove last year's success was no fluke. "We've been knocking on the door, and we just need to take that next step up," Stephens says. "It could have happened for us last year, but it didn't. That's always going to be our goal, to win a state championship."

After losing nine players on defense to graduation, Tucker faces challenges in '08. "That's a huge hole to fill," Stephens (left) told the AJC during spring drills.
