The high school football state championships are coming to the Georgia Dome on Friday and Saturday.

Here are 10 questions to whet the appetite. Only one question per participating school, please.

1. Colquitt County: Has a team with five losses ever won a state title?

A. Yes. Colquitt (9-5) can become the third. Thomas County Central in 1992 was 10-5 and West Rome in 1965 was 7-5-1. No school in the highest classification has done it.

2. Brookwood: Who was the last team to win the highest classification after a non-winning season?

A. Brookwood, which was 6-6 in 2009, can become the first since Colquitt in 1994. Colquitt was 6-6 in 1993.

3. Starr’s Mill: Who is the last school to win a state title with a new coach?

A. Chad Phillips, who replaced Mike Earwood at Starr's Mill, can become the first since 2004, when Warner Robins' Brian Way and Clinch County's Jim Dickerson did it.

4. Chattahoochee: Who is the last North Fulton school to finish undefeated?

A. Chattahoochee (14-0) can become the first since North Springs (12-0-1) in 1969. The last unbeaten, untied North Fulton team was Roswell (13-0) in 1968.

5. Sandy Creek: Has any school ever won consecutive state titles in two classifications?

A. Yes. Sandy Creek, the 2009 Class AAAA champion that dropped to AAA this season, can join Buford (2001-02) and Decatur (1949-50). Sandy Creek can become the first to move down and do it.

6. Buford: Has any school ever won four straight state titles?

A. Yes. Buford can become the second. West Rome went 59-1 while winning state titles from 1982 to 1985.

7. Calhoun: Has a school ever lost in three state finals in three years?

A. Yes. Calhoun is hoping not to join Adairsville (1969-72) as the only schools to do it. Calhoun and Buford are the first schools to meet in state finals three straight years.

8. Clinch County: Has a school ever won state titles in four straight decades?

A. Yes. Clinch County, which has won state titles in 1988, 1991, 2002 and 2004, can become the third, joining Lincoln County (1960s through 2000s) and Valdosta (1940s through 1990s).

9. Savannah Christian: Has a former Georgia Independent School Association (GISA) team ever won a GHSA football state title?

A. No. Savannah Christian is trying to become the first.

10. Carrollton: Has a head coach in Georgia ever won state titles at two schools?

A. Yes. Rayvan Teague, who won at Swainsboro in 2000, can become the 14th in GHSA history.
