Hutson Mason, Lassiter's record-breaking quarterback, was named Gatorade Player of the Year for Georgia.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Mason set state records for passing yards (4,533) and touchdown passes (54) in a season, along with passing yards in a game (552). Lassiter was eliminated by Colquitt County in last week's Class AAAAA quarterfinals.

It has been a big week for Mason. On Monday, he was offered scholarships by Georgia and Florida State. He already holds offers from Virginia, while Mississippi State may be next.
