Chad Simmons, the offensive coordinator at Emanuel County Institute, accepted the head coaching job at Metter last week, then had a change of heart and declined the position two days later.

"I have a 2-year-old and a 4-year-old at home, and when I realized the amount of time this position would take away from me being with my children, I knew it wasn't the right thing to do right now," Simmons told The Metter Advertiser .

Metter is seeking a replacement for Clay Hill, who was 7-33 over four seasons. Metter hasn't had a winning season since an 11-2 finish in 2003.
