Wheeler County, a Class A Public school in southeast Georgia, has forfeited four of its five 2020 football victories to Telfair County, Glascock County, Hawkinsville and Treutlen.
Wheeler County notified those schools of the GHSA’s decision Monday while denying any wrongdoing. The GHSA did not immediately confirm the reason for its decision, but it’s believed to be related to undue influence regarding a player who transferred to the school.
Wheeler County’s record becomes 1-9.
Had the infraction been discovered and and forfeits assessed during the regular season, Telfair County would’ve made the playoffs out of Region 4-A Public instead of Montgomery County.
