Miller Grove’s Cayman Spaulding entered last week’s game ranked second in sacks and third in tackles for losses in DeKalb County. The only good thing he hadn’t done was intercept a pass and celebrate a victory over the kind of opponent needed to shine a light on the season the junior linebacker was having.

On Friday night, Spaulding added six tackles for losses to his resume and intercepted two passes, one returned for a touchdown, to seal a 34-27 victory over seventh-ranked Stephenson. The victory was Miller Grove’s second in history against a top-10 team and second ever against Stephenson.

“He’s a top-tier athlete, and everything he does, he does it 100 mph,” Miller Grove coach Melvin Brown said.
