East Forsyth, the newest GHSA high school, hired Union County’s Brian Allison as its first football coach this week.

Allison has coached at Union County, his alma mater, since 2008 and led the Panthers to an overall record of 85-52 with playoff appearances seven of the past eight seasons.

Allison’s teams are known for offense and passing. They averaged more than 35 points per game six of the past seven seasons, and four of his quarterbacks earned all-state recognition.

East Forsyth will be the seventh high school in Forsyth, a fast-growing school system that also opened Denmark High in 2018.

East Forsyth will start with grades nine through 11 and play a full varsity, but non-region, schedule in 2021. The teams’ nickname will be the Broncos. The school has a Gainesville address and is within a couple of miles of Lake Lanier.
