“Just stay the course. Some teams win by a small margin, and some teams lose by a big margin, and they are not really that different of teams. We’re a really good 3-5 football team right now, which is hard to believe that we’ve played five top-10 teams that we’ve lost to. We just got to keep working and overcome that, and I think our kids will do that.” -- North Cobb Christian head coach Matt Jones told the Marietta Daily Journal after his Eagles lost to Private No. 9 Darlington, 35-23.

“We’re just so proud of (Sam Bush and Tre Hawkins) and we’re proud of our offensive line for blocking. We’re really young in a lot of spots and each week they get a little bit better. We’re proud of the way both of those guys play and it’s just a great team win.” — Athens Academy head coach Josh Alexander told the Athens Banner Herald after his junior tandem of QB Sam Bush and RB Tre Hawkins rushed for nearly 300 yards in a 30-14 win over Athens area rival Athens Christian.

“They did a good job calling a timeout trying to ice him, but you can’t ice Ethan Byrd, man. I said [to Byrd], ‘The biggest thing, Ethan, are you going to be able to survive the celebration?’ Our defense stepped up, held them at 14 until overtime. Our defense played a great game and our offense responded when they needed to. I’m very proud of [QB] Paulus (Zittrauer) coming off the bench and making some great throws. We had huge runs by freshman Zo Smalls and senior Carter Allen down the stretch. Ely Brown was phenomenal with about five catches on one drive, and he finishes with a bubble (screen pass). Of course, we can’t do it without [WR] George Futch. He’s double-covered. Somebody’s got to be open. He had a great game tonight. Just blessed to get a win. We want to play (at home) at Pooler Stadium again. In order to do that, we need to win the last two. We’ve got to get through Aquinas and in two weeks over to Saunders Field and play Country Day. We only had four home games this year. I want our seniors to able to get another playoff home game at Pooler Stadium.” – Savannah Christian head coach Baker Woodward said to the Savannah Morning News after his team rallied to defeat Aquinas 24-21 in double overtime. Byrd’s 25-yard field goal was the game winner.

“It was a dogfight. We’ve been telling the kids all week, [Savannah County Day] have a lot of pride, they’re playing hard and are a good football team. They’ve just had some misfortunes and had some games they lost they probably should’ve won. They’re one of the better teams we’ve played all year. I felt like it was going to be a dogfight.” – Private No. 2 Calvary Day head coach Mark Stroud told the Savannah Morning News after his team outlasted community rival Savannah Country Day, 28-7.

“To be honest, I didn’t intend to go up north. I didn’t have any sort of opinion on it. I had a handful of offers and I wanted to check out every place. [Savannah Country Day head coach John Mohring] had a good connection with [New Hampshire associate head coach/QB coach Ricky] Santos, who I’ve been able to build a relationship with. They got me up on a visit. I fell in love with it and decided to commit.” – Savannah Country Day senior QB Barry Kleinpeter said to the Savannah Morning News on his decision to commit to the Wildcats, located in Durham, New Hampshire – a 1,100-mile, 17-hour drive from Savannah.
