HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL TOP PERFORMERS
Nate Brown caught four touchdown passes in North Gwinnett’s 50-47 victory against Mill Creek last week. Two of those came in the fourth quarter, when North Gwinnett rallied from a 47-28 deficit.
For Brown, who committed to Missouri, that wasn’t even his best game of the season. The senior caught 10 passes for 172 yards and four touchdowns against Norcross last month in a 36-17 victory. He has 14 touchdown receptions on the season, at least one in each of North Gwinnett’s six games.
Here are some of the best individual performances from last week.
Top five state performers
- Alexander RB Mikell Lands-Davis rushed for 312 yards and four touchdowns in 49 carries in a 33-19 victory over LaGrange. Lands-Davis gained 121 yards on 19 carries in the first half and 191 yards on 30 carries in the second.
- Aquinas RB Ruben Garnett rushed for 284 yards on 41 carries and scored four touchdowns in a 42-14 victory against Lincoln County. Aquinas ended a 32-game losing streak against Lincoln County.
- Archer QB Gabe Tiller was 30-of-38 passing for 339 yards and four touchdowns in a 41-20 victory against Central Gwinnett.
- Cedartown RB Nick Chubb rushed for 355 yards and five touchdowns on 36 carries in a 42-34 victory against Pickens.
- Brown caught eight passes for 122 yards and four touchdowns in a 50-47 victory against Mill Creek.
Others in metro Atlanta
- Arabia Mountain QB Jakobi Meyers was 16-of-32 passing for 233 yards and two touchdowns in a 32-29 upset victory over Mays. WR Gregory Phillips, a preseason all-state pick, caught five passes for 120 yards and one touchdown.
- B.E.S.T. Academy RB Deshawn Waller gained 231 yards rushing on 16 carries and scored touchdowns rushing and receiving in a 37-18 victory against Jackson-Atlanta.
- Brookwood DB Casimir Isles had 16 tackles and two sacks in a 20-7 victory over Shiloh.
- Cedar Grove WR Benjy Parrish caught two TD passes and returned a kickoff for a touchdown in a 48-21 victory against McNair.
- Chapel Hill sophomore RB Jamarcus Morrissette rushed for 244 yards and scored five touchdowns in a 52-13 victory against Douglass.
- Eagle's Landing Christian QB Dalton Etheridge was 15-of-17 passing for 273 yards and four touchdowns in a 61-0 victory against Mount Vernon Presbyterian. Etheridge also scored a touchdown.
- Grady QB Isiah Jenkins rushed for 261 yards and three touchdowns on 29 carries in a 28-14 victory over previously unbeaten Washington. Jenkins also punted five times with no returns yards allowed.
- Greater Atlanta Christian RB Micah Abernathy scored four touchdowns and rushed for 204 yards — 96 of those on a touchdown run in the second half — in a 49-3 victory over Westminster.
- Locust Grove RB/SS Emilio Conde scored five touchdowns (four rushing, one receiving) and made five tackles in a 44-27 victory against Woodland of Stockbridge. Conde has 10 touchdowns in 43 carries and receptions this season. DB Cortez McDowell scored on 97-yard fumble return for the second consecutive game.
- Luella LB Jaylon Harris had 14 tackles (two for losses), intercepted two passes (returning one for a touchdown) and forced a fumble in a 28-14 victory over Rockdale County.
- M.L. King LB Tarez Hall had 10 tackles, three for losses, in a 43-21 victory against Dunwoody.
- Mundy's Mill RB Rodney Smith rushed for 160 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries and scored on a 39-yard pass in a 30-14 victory over Drew.
- Norcross QB A.J. Bush passed for 202 yards, rushed for 71 and scored three touchdowns in a 28-0 victory against Collins Hill.
- North Cobb Christian sophomore RB David Brittingham rushed for 280 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries in a 41-21 victory over Providence Christian. It was North Cobb Christian's first victory of the season.
- Parkview LB Nick Lawson had eight tackles, three for losses, and forced a fumble in a 28-21 victory over Dacula. RB Justin Rosser rushed for 184 yards and scored three touchdowns on 25 carries.
- Sandy Creek Eric Swinney rushed for 147 yards on seven carries and scored on runs of 55 and 65 yards and caught a 58-yard touchdown pass in a 49-0 victory against Shaw.
- Walker RB/LB Gaines LaHue, who returned to football after having not played since the eighth grade, rushed for 299 yards on 21 carries and a school-record four touchdowns in a 25-20 victory against Fellowship Christian. Two of his touchdowns went for 75 yards. He had eight tackles.
