Tim Hudson's broken ankle is among the recent injuries in sports that are just too hard to watch.

Braves starting pitcher Tim Hudson broke his right ankle as Mets outfielder Eric Young Jr., trying to beat a throw to first base on a ground out, stepped on Hudson’s leg just above the ankle, rolling his ankle inward all the way to the ground in the eighth inning July 25, 2013, at Citi Field.

Trainers check on Louisville guard Kevin Ware after he suffered a compound fracture of his right leg as he landed awkwardly after attempting to block a three-point shot attempt during the first half of the Midwest Regional final against Duke March 31, 2013, in an NCAA college basketball tournament in Indianapolis. The injury was not expected to be career-ending.

South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore grabs his right knee after getting hit by Tennessee's Eric Gordon on Oct. 27 during the first half of an SEC matchup at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, S.C. Lattimore, who sustained a dislocation and tore several ligaments in his right knee, spent months rehabbing and was drafted in the fourth round of the NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers.

Prothro did not play again.

Los Angeles Clippers guard Shaun Livingston dislocated his left kneecap after landing awkwardly following a missed layup in a game against the Charlotte Bobcats at Staples Center on February 26, 2007, in Los Angeles. Livingston is currently a member of the Brooklyn Nets.

Miami running back Willis McGahee (2) is helped off the field after sustaining a knee injury on a hit by Ohio State safety Will Allen that bent his left knee backwards, causing tears of the ACL, PCL, and MCL, during the fourth quarter of the Jan. 3, 2003, Fiesta Bowl against Ohio State in Tempe, Ariz. McGahee was drafted in the first round of the 2003 NFL Draft and has played nine seasons.

Pirates catcher suffered a season-ending injury in 1999 when he dislocated his ankle while running to first base in a July 4 game against Milwaukee after attempting to beat out a bunt. He returned the next season.

Cincinnati Bengals nose tackle Tim Krumrie is taken from the field on a stretcher after breaking his tibia and fibula in his left leg on a tackle during the first quarter of Super Bowl XXIII in Miami. Krumrie played six more years with a steel rod in that injured leg.

Washington quarterback Joe Theismann is helped by teammate Mark May and others after suffering a comminuted compound fracture of his leg - a career-ending injury - while being sacked by New York Giants linebackers Lawrence Taylor and Harry Carson during a Monday Night Football game at RFK Stadium on Nov. 18, 1985, in Washington, D.C.
