Bo Andrews has at least one advantage on every other golfer in the field at the U.S. Amateur.: he is a member of Atlanta Athletic Club, which is hosting this week’s event.
Andrews, a former standout at Georgia Tech, shot a 1-under 71 on the Riverside Course on Monday. His round featured 17 pars and a birdie on 15.
Andrews said as part of the decision to join Atlanta Athletic Club, he wanted somewhere great to play and it hosting the U.S. Amateur was “icing on the cake.”
He took advantage of his membership to play Riverside three times and the Highlands 10.
“It’s more of a comfort thing and certainty on the tee lines and areas on the green that you can put from that are easier than other areas,” Andrews said of the advantages of being a member.
