Last year's Masters champion, Tiger Woods, walks to the 6th green during the final round Sunday, April 14, 2019, at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta.

Augusta National Golf Club, home of the Masters Golf Tournament, will donate $2 million toward COVID-19 testing and relief efforts.

The money will be used in Augusta to expand virus testing along with aiding the CSRA Emergency Fund, which was launched to “directly support relief efforts for the most vulnerable populations affected by the coronavirus pandemic in the community.”

To date there have been nearly 3,000 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Georgia.

The pandemic forced the 2020 Master Tournament, which would have started April 9, to be postponed. Speculation suggests it could be played in October.

“It is our hope these gifts will help address the many challenges brought about by the coronavirus throughout the city of Augusta and the greater region,” Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley said in a published release. “We believe Augusta National has an important responsibility to support and protect the community who has so generously and consistently supported us for many years.”

The club is closed to members through the summer.
