Georgia Tech guard Jose Alvarado was named the ACC player of the week Monday after leading the Yellow Jackets to wins in which he scored 45 points and shot 17-for-24 from the field. It’s the second time that Alvarado, a senior, has earned the honor.

Alvarado scored 20 points to go with seven rebounds, seven assists and three steals in a 72-67 win over North Carolina on Wednesday, making eight of 10 shots from the floor. In a 70-54 win over Wake Forest on Sunday, Alvarado scored a game-high 25 points, including a 15-point binge in the first five minutes of the second half. He also had four rebounds, two assists and no turnovers in 36 minutes of play.

Alvarado is now leading the ACC in scoring at 18.1 points per game, is seventh in field-goal percentage at 52.8%, fourth in free-throw percentage at 86.8%, fourth in steals at 2.1 per game and sixth in assist/turnover ratio at 1.9.
