Former Georgia Tech star Iman Shumpert made his “Dancing with the Stars” debut Monday night, dancing a lively jive in the ABC ballroom-dance competition.

Paired with professional dancer Daniella Karagach, Shumpert performed his first dance to OutKast’s “Hey Ya!”

Shumpert, who has played 10 NBA seasons since leaving Tech after the 2010-11 season, has spread his celebrity wings, performing as a musician and actor. Shumpert, who lives in Atlanta, is the star in an E! network reality show with his wife, Teyana Taylor. Disappointingly, his bio on the DWTS website made no mention of his inclusion on the 2011 All-ACC and all-defensive teams, or his being the first Yellow Jackets player to record a triple double against an ACC opponent.

Monday’s performance did not augur well for Shumpert. AJC radio and TV writer Rodney Ho reported that Shumpert was one of only two of the 15 contestants to earn any scores below 6.

The next show airs on ABC (Channel 2 Action News in Atlanta) at 8 p.m. Mondays.
