Georgia Tech’s game at Syracuse, scheduled to start at noon, was delayed 20 minutes in order to confirm negative COVID-19 tests.

According to a report from Tech sideline reporter Wiley Ballard on the broadcast, there were three players that needed additional testing. It was not clear if the players were on the Syracuse team or Georgia Tech’s or both. Chris Carlson, who covers Syracuse for Syracuse.com, tweeted that the players all play for the Orange.

Teams had warmed up before kickoff at the Carrier Dome before players were pulled off their field to their locker rooms. They took the field again shortly before 12:30 p.m.

A tweet from the Syracuse athletic department said that “Out of an abundance of caution Syracuse University is temporarily delaying kickoff to confirm negative COVID-19 test results.”

By ACC protocol, players are tested three times per week.
