Former Georgia Tech wide receiver Ahmarean Brown will be a South Carolina Gamecock.

Brown, who led the Yellow Jackets in receptions, receiving yardage and touchdown catches as a freshman in 2019 before entering the transfer portal at the end of the 2020 season, made his announcement Thursday.

In 2019, Brown, from Tampa, Fla., caught 21 passes for 396 yards and seven touchdowns as a freshman, tying Calvin Johnson’s school record for touchdown catches by a freshman. This season, his production declined, with 11 catches for 183 yards and one touchdown in seven games as wide receiver Jalen Camp and running back Jahmyr Gibbs assumed larger roles in the passing game. Brown missed the team’s final three games.

With the expected rule change from the NCAA later this month that all athletes can transfer once without having to sit out a season, Brown will have three remaining seasons of eligibility starting next season.

Coincidentally, Tech will receive a transfer from South Carolina, defensive tackle Makius Scott from Gainesville High.
