Georgia State’s Albert Wilson tied or extended several school records in Saturday’s 35-21 loss to Louisiana-Lafayette at the Georgia Dome.

Used in almost every position on offense except quarterback, Wilson had 57 receiving yards and a touchdown, which tied his season record for receiving scores. He rushed five times for a career-high 64 yards, including a career-long 48-yard scamper in the first quarter. He returned two punts for 26 yards and he returned three kicks for 49 yards.

His eight receptions tied a career high and raised his season total to 58, breaking the previous single-season record (54) set by Danny Williams in 2010.

With 196 all-purpose yards, he raised his season total to 1,832, breaking the record (1,810) he set last year.

“It’s a great accomplishment,” Wilson said. “You don’t realize until you sit back and look at it. But it doesn’t really matter right now.”

Because you want a win?

“Yes,” he said.

More records: Quarterback Ronnie Bell also set several records.

Bell passed for 229 yards to raise his career mark to 2,596, breaking the previous school record (2,497) set by Drew Little in 2010.

Bell also rushed for nine times for 37 yards, giving him 266 yards of total offense to become the school’s career leader with 2,763 yards. It broke the record (2,531) also held by Little. Bell’s 2,188 yards of total offense this season surpassed the 2,078 set by Little.

Hubbard's run: Matt Hubbard surprised most with a 12-yard run for a first down on fourth-and-10 at the 50-yard line in the fourth quarter.

Hubbard said he knew the play would work because the Ragin’ Cajuns didn’t pressure him in his previous kicks.

“Coach Miles said, ‘If it’s there, take it,’” Hubbard said. “First thing that went through my mind was, ‘It’s there. It’s there.’”

But he still had to talk himself into it.

Because he lines up 15 yards behind the line of scrimmage, he didn’t need just 10 yards. He would actually have to run 25 yards. He picked up 27, but was credited for 12.

Hubbard has punted 23 times in the past four games with one returned, for minus-3 yards.

Rucker's day: Freshman tight end Keith Rucker said he was told earlier in the week that he was going to be part of the game plan against Ragin' Cajuns.

“I didn’t know how big of a role I was going to have,” he said.

He responded with career highs for receptions (six) and yards (121). He also caught his first touchdown, a 42-yard catch-and-run just before the end of the first half.

Rucker said he was supposed to run a 5-yard hook route, but changed and ran to his left when he saw Bell roll to his left.

“Ronnie put the ball right on me,” he said.

More firsts: Sophomore linebacker Joseph Peterson got his first two sacks this season. Both came in the first quarter. He finished with 12 tackles, tied for the game's high.

“I give it up for the defensive line who opened up the gaps for me to come straight through,” he said.

Peterson said both sacks came on blitzes called by defensive coordinator Jesse Minter.

Lee's high mark: The team was without senior wide receiver Kelton Hill (violation of team rules) and sophomore wide receiver Avery Sweeting, who won't play the rest of the season so he can focus on academics. Without that duo, senior Parris Lee had a career-high six catches for 55 yards.
