ATHENS -- Rolling, rolling, rolling.
That’s about all that can be said of Georgia football’s recruiting efforts, which were rewarded yet again on Monday. Jordan James, a 4-star running back from Murfreesboro, Tenn., committed to the Bulldogs over Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, Florida State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and a host of other teams.
James is the third major recruiting prospect to commit to UGA in the last five days. He is ranked the No. 3 player in Tennessee and the No. 8 player running back in the nation by 247Sports.
James’ decision follows 5-star defensive back Malaki Starks of Jefferson, who pledged to the Bulldogs on Thursday, and 4-star linebacker Jalon Walker of Salisbury, N.C., who announced his selection of UGA on Sunday.
Georgia now has 11 commitments for the Class of 2022. The Bulldogs are ranked second nationally, just five points behind No. 1 Ohio State, according to the 247Sports composite.
James fits the mold of the many great running backs that have matriculated through Georgia. That is, he’s 5-foot-10, 205 pounds, exceptionally fast and has put up unbelievable numbers in high school. James scored six touchdowns for Oakland High in last year’s 7-AAA state championship win over Brentwood Academy.
An offseason injury meant James had to be eased into the Patriots’ lineup last year, according to a report in the Murfreesboro Daily Journal. But he finished with 1,740 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns, with nearly 1,000 of those yards coming in the postseason.
