Georgia defeated Arkansas 66-61 in overtime Saturday at Stegeman Coliseum.

The Bulldogs trailed by as many as seven points in the second half, but fought back to tie the game at 52-all at the end of regulation.

Kenny Gaines started overtime with a 3-pointer, followed by a free throw and a three-point play from Charles Mann for a 59-52 lead with 2:22 to go. Mann scored six of his nine points in the extra period.

Gaines led the Bulldogs with 15 points and Marcus Thornton finished with 11 points and 13 rebounds. The Bulldogs out-rebounded Arkansas 56-34 and limited the Razorbacks to 32 percent shooting.

It was the third straight overtime game for Arkansas (12-5, 1-3 SEC). The Razorbacks have lost five straight SEC games on the road.

Georgia (9-7, 2-1) improves to 2-0 in overtime this season and suddenly is in business in the SEC. The Bulldogs play host to South Carolina on Wednesday.

Arkansas eked out a 29-28 lead at halftime of a back-and-forth game.

The Bulldogs trailed most of the first half but used an 8-0 run to grab a 25-22 lead with 3:35 remaining. Turnovers and missed jumped shots allowed the Razorbacks to get back in it. A 3 by Gurley and back-to-back layups put Arkansas ahead 29-26. A Tim Dixon jumper cut the margin back to one before intermission.

Foul trouble — not to mention shooting trouble — kept Mann on the bench for much of the half. The starting point guard and leading scorer played just 11 minutes and with two fouls and no points or rebounds.
