Falcons wide receiver Roddy White doesn’t buy the talk that the team doesn’t need to beat Pittsburgh to win the NFC South and reach the playoffs.

“That’s what they say, but you want to win all three of these games because New Orleans is such a hard place to go down there and win,” White said on Thursday. “In the past, we haven’t gone down there and won… . you figure if we get all three, then we’ll be in. That’s our goal and that what I’ve been preaching to the guys.”

The Falcons are 5-8 and face the Steelers (8-5) at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Georgia Dome. They close out with games at New Orleans (5-8) on Dec. 21 and at home against Carolina (4-8-1) on Dec. 28. If the Falcons lose to Pittsburgh and beat New Orleans and Carolina, they’d win the NFC South title with a 7-9 record.

“It’s been crazy because we feel like we’ve put ourselves in such a bad position this season just doing crazy stuff,” White said. “ We have been just giving away games that we think we should have won.”

But White knows he can’t dwell on those losses now.

“Instead of just feeling that way, just go out there and play and win these last three games and we’ll have a home playoff game,” White said. “We can go from there.”
