Football lore is carved with myths, and the "Madden Curse" is among the most followed in recent sports. It is believed to have started in 2001, when Titans running back Eddie George first appeared on the cover. Since then, the myth goes, past successes are erased by declining performances and general bad luck. In George's case, his team lost in the 2001 playoffs, and he never averaged more than 3.3 yards per carry for the rest of his career.
