Place-kicker Giorgio Tavecchio, who was retained by the Falcons over veteran Matt Bryant, will also handle the kickoff duties, previously executed by punter Matt Bosher, according to coach Dan Quinn.

“I’ve been doing that since high school, college and throughout my NFL career so far,” Tavecchio said Monday.

Of Bosher, Tavecchio said: “He’s been doing such a great job, but it was early on in the spring this offseason. It’s something that we wanted to see if we could put some different puzzle pieces together. We are excited to make some plays on that kickoff team.”

In eight seasons, Bosher has kicked off 682 times with 383 touchbacks.

Bosher, 31, who was selected in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL draft, will concentrate solely on his punting.

In eight seasons, Bosher has punted 480 times for 21,969 yards while averaging a franchise-best 45.8 yards per punt (40.5 net average).

Donald Trump's administration deployed the military to Washington, D.C., in the name of fighting crime, and in an Aug. 11 news conference he mentioned the possibility of military being sent to other large American cities, all of which are led by Black, Democratic mayors. And while Atlanta wasn't included in Trump's list, the city fits that profile under Mayor Andre Dickens. (Photo Illustration: Philip Robibero / AJC | Source: Getty)
