Despite a 5-1 record, Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has struggled against the Buccaneers.

In those six games, he has thrown eight interceptions and five touchdowns while compiling a passer rating of 65.9 — his worst against any team.

In the most recent matchup, Ryan threw a game-winning touchdown with less than five minutes left to give the Falcons a 28-24 victory Dec. 5.

Ryan’s counterpart, Josh Freeman, has not shined against the Falcons. He has completed only 54.2 percent of his passes and has a passer rating of 74. He has thrown six touchdowns against five interceptions in four losses.

Ryan may not be as sharp entering this game because he was limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday with a sore knee.

If Ryan is not able to get in a groove against the Buccaneers, the Falcons might be able to lean heavily on their rushing attack which averages 124 yards per game. Tampa Bay’s defense has allowed 156 yards per game and is giving up 4.6 yards per carry.
