Quarterback Matt Ryan, who has the Falcons off to a surprising 2-1 start, was named the NFC’s offensive player of the month on Thursday.

After dropping the season opener to Tampa Bay, Ryan has led the Falcons to road victories over the Raiders and the Saints. He’s currently tied for the league lead in passer rating at 119 along with New England’s Jimmy Garoppolo.

In the three games, Ryan has completed 73-of-103 passes for an NFC-best 70.9 completion rate while passing for 970 yards. Ryan ranks tied for third with seven touchdowns and his one interception is tied for the fewest among quarterbacks with at least 100 pass attempts.

This is Ryan’s third time winning the player of the month award in his career – first since September of 2012. His three Player of the Month awards are also the most by any player in franchise history.
