Cornerback Rashard Causey was released and veteran safety Ronald Martin, who played at LSU, was signed on Friday, according to the team.

The Falcons also signed former Boston College cornerback Hamp Cheevers and released long snapper Kyle Vasey.

Causey, a four-star recruit who went on to play 44 games in college, received a $10,000 signing bonus from the Falcons.

Causey, 5-foot-11 and 188 pounds, played in all 13 games, including five starts at nickel back last season for Central Florida.

He recorded 48 tackles, four tackles for loss and two sacks as a senior. Causey was tied for the team lead with three forced fumbles, recovered one and broke up six passes.

Martin, 26, has been with the Jets and the Colts. He’s played in 13 NFL games.

Vasey played at Penn State.
