Falcons coach Dan Quinn let his players have a little fun after Thursday’s minicamp. He had the first team against the second team.

The idea was to create competition with the group. Both the offense and defense rotated lineups as the first-team offense saw some time against the second-team defense and vise-versa.

The competition resulted in two games. There was the two-minute game and the move the ball drill.

Each scenario had its own set of challenges. For example, if the defense stopped the offense, they had to do 10 pushups.

Also, the coaches were on the sidelines. They let the several players call plays for both teams. One of those players was cornerback Desmond Trufant.

“In the two minute, we had (Desmond) Trufant calling the defense and Matt Schaub calling the offense,” Quinn said. “In the move the ball position, offensively, Matt Ryan called the plays and Paul Worrilow (called the defense). It was just another way to just change things up. Put those guys in different spots to help with the learning and the understanding.”
