The Jacksonville Jaguars’ new mobile app boasts a feature they say is not available anywhere else in professional sports.
“Nobody has this technology anywhere,” says Steven Ziff, vice president of marketing and digital media for the Jaguars.
The “Jags Gameday” app has an instant replay feature that fans can only use inside Everbank Field during game time. Ziff says the feature is “geo-fenced” to only work inside the stadium because of broadcast restrictions.
“So it becomes another reason to come to a Jaguars game,” he says.
Fans can access instant replays in real time seconds after the play. They can toggle between four permanent cameras, even using tilt, zoom and pan options.
“It is primarily going to be beneficial on game day,” Ziff says.
The app features three different menu screens in a tile-like format. Users can toggle between the three menus simply by swiping up and down. The three pictures attached to this article show each of the menus.
Ziff says on game day, the app updates with different content throughout the day. When fans are heading into the game, they’ll see seating and concession maps, as well as roster information that constantly updates. There is also a cheerleader roster.
Once the game starts, it switches to the primary focus of the app, the “3D VR instant replay.”
Ziff says they had a soft launch for the game against the Charges. About a thousand people downloaded it, and about 90 percent of the usability came from the replay feature.
