Falcons left tackle Jake Matthews will play in the Pro Bowl on Sunday in Orlando.

Matthews, who was a Pro Bowl alternate, will replace Washington tackle Trent Williams, who was unable to participate because of injury.

It will be Matthews’ first appearance in the Pro Bowl.

Matthews, who was the sixth player selected in the 2014 draft, was one of the few bright spots along the offensive line last season.

He’ll join Falcons center Alex Mack and tight end Austin Hooper in the game. Wide receiver Julio Jones elected not to play because of a previous injury.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
