Julio Jones held out of practice with calf injury

Falcons All-Pro wide receiver Julio Jones, who had a player fall on the back of his calf with 5:02 to play in the Oakland game, did not practice on Thursday.

“He’s making good progress as we are going,” Falcons coach Dan Quinn said. “We won’t practice him today. He’s able to participate in some of the walk-throughs to get moving around.”

Jones, who did participate in the walk-through, wore his ball cap, red jersey and shorts to practice.

Quinn expects Jones to play against the New Orleans Saints on Monday in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

“We kind of just see his arrow keep going up as the week goes,” Quinn said. “He was definitely sore coming out of the game on Sunday and into Monday. Having the extra day this week has been a real plus for him, no doubt about it.”

Jones, who caught 136 passes last season, has nine catches for 172 yards and two touchdowns.
