Flowery Branch – With the offseason release of Falcons wide receiver Roddy White, the leadership torch has been officially passed over to Julio Jones.

While White, who’s hoping to sign with a championship contender after the draft or possibly June 1, in no longer with the team, the lessons he taught Jones could be valuable.

“The voice is always going to be there because I learned a lot from him,” Jones said. “The way I work… he passed along some great traits to me. So, now I can teach the other guys.”

Jones was teaching lessons at team’s players-only passing camp at the end of March in Florida. He had to help wide receiver Mohamed Sanu, who was signed as a free agent, learn a new offensive scheme. He’s also been working with second-year receiver Justin Hardy.

“I feel like that was the Roddy in me, to coach up other guys and not be selfish,” Jones said. “It would be so easy to keep all of that wisdom to myself and not share it. … but we are out here to win.”
