Former Falcons’ running back William Andrews was recognized Sunday at the Georgia Dome during the Falcons game against the Colts.

Andrews, who was inducted into the Falcons’ Ring of Honor in 2004, set 19 records in his time with Atlanta. In his first game in 1979, Andrews ran 167 yards and recorded 189 total offensive yards against the Saints.

A third -round draft pick out of Auburn in 1979, Andrews played for the Falcons until 1983 and once again in 1986. He averaged 1,677 rushing yards per year, leading all NFL running backs at the time.

Andrews was named to the 1979 All Rookie Team and selected as a member of the Pro Bowl roster from 1980-83.
